About a decade ago, before Google Chrome saved bookmarks and passwords, I used Symbaloo to save my frequently visited websites. I absolutely loved that I could create a webmix, which is like a tab for websites used at home, work, and for a variety of purposes. But, with the convenience of Google Chrome, I kinda let my Symbaloo fade into the past.
Why a rediscovery?
My students have been 1-to-1 for about 3 years, but we were using iPads. Recently, we've moved to laptops. Now, I will preface this by reminding you they are 3rd graders. They are tech savvy creatures, but typing in websites can be a time consuming task.
Symbaloo is my solution. I simply created a webmix with our frequently used websites.
Pushing out to Students
Our students have an online learning management system, so I shared my webmix link in an announcement with them. Once they added my webmix, then we made Symbaloo their homepage. What's even better? Whenever I update my webmix because we need another website, I push out from my Symbaloo, and theirs automatically updates. Use the green icon to share your Symbaloo. The refresh icon updates your Symbaloo and pushes the updates out to your followers. Symbaloo is the best rediscovery!
